I was strolling the streets of old Damascus with my dad and sister, exploring alleys we have not yet discovered. My dad told me that they recently renovated some parts of Bab Sharqi (the East Gate of old Damascus) so we headed there and I was pleasantly surprised at the work. They preserved the buildings’ old looks but installed matching light posts and cobblestone instead of the fake looking asphalt that was there.
